Integrated Rural Development Plan along National Highway 83 in PollachiTaluk, Coimbatore

Roads are the most important means of transportation and communication. They play a massive function in the improvement and welfare of the community. Significant import and export of goods, general transport, and communication services within a neighborhood or between cities usually occur via roads. The efficiency of such a function massively depends on the condition and quality of the road. With this view, the National Highway Authority of India has made an effort to widen road (NH83) from Coimbatore city to Pollachi town. This research is to understand the impact of road widening of national highway on the socio-economic and agricultural status of its surrounding regions. Existing and projected conditions of the population were studied and analyzed via a collection of several parameters such as household conditions, literacy, occupation, land use, irrigation, social welfare service, and institutions.
