Abstract

Urban Sprawl has resulted in the spread of many cities into a maze of un-ordered dimensions. The urbanisation which is the major reason of such situations creating congestion in the core areas resulted in outgrowths. Such outgrowths lead to the engulfing-off all the land with whatever came on the way along with it just like a stream of water gushing as floods. Somehow few sectors managed to escape the vast rush attaining the good-bad and adjusting with the physical boundaries making themselves as a part of the same. The paper presents an overview of Urban Village of Chandigarh which was studied as a part of a workshop conducted with collaboration of Indo-Italian architects.
