Inclination of the Urban Design: Case of Kathmandu, Nepal

Abstract


The concept of urban growth is growing rapidly everyday. It has become the motif of today's discussion in the world. This article describes the trend of urbanization in Nepal, one of the most urbanized countries. The focus of this paper is on the inclination of urban design concepts in Kathmandu city with aim of optimizing future growth. Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and has a high rate of urbanization. There are several investments by related bodies on urban development at Kathmandu despite having several challenges due to topography, physical structure, and dense population. This paper gathered some of the reasons for investing in Kathmandu to develop it on an urban concept that may be beneficial to the government and the citizen. Also, this paper explained the opportunity that will be created on urbanizing the town in the sectors of economics, utilizing natural resources, modernization, and many more. Similarly, several suggested criteria and principal in this paper can lead to the identity of the place, qualities, and diversity due to which feeling of equality, justice, and freedom of the city will be developed.
