Transportation Management: Challenges and Opportunities

Abstract


One of the major challenges facing metropolises today is the problem of urban transportation. The lack of strategic planning for urban transport systems, in addition to duplicating joint ventures in community infrastructure, also causes inconsistency between these systems, and may create numerous problems in Connect subsystems to each other. One of the most important concerns of metropolitan management is transportation management, in this regard, the context of sustainable transport development in the city can be the most effective tool to guide urban development, shape the environment and improve the quality of urban life. To address the issue of transport management, first, have to well understand the concept, the modes, and the segments of transportation, i.e. nature, manner, circumstance of transportation issue, so that can be able to make a management decision about each of those concepts and sections. This is the most basic concept in transportation management. Transportation means moving people, animals and goods from one place to another. Transportation occurs in various modes including air, land (rail and road), water, cable, pipeline and space. This field can be divided into infrastructure, vehicles and operations. Transportation is important, because it makes possible for people to trade and it is essential for the development of civilizations. Transportation infrastructure include fixed installation like roads, airways, airways, waterways, canals and pipelines, transportation terminals and Refueling depot (refueling and fuel stations) and port stations) and port can be used. Terminals can be used for passenger transport, cargo transportation and Repair & maintenance. Amongst the Travel vehicles on these networks can be include cars, bicycles, buses, trains, trucks, people, helicopters, ships, space shields and Aircraft. This also must be known that in the transportation industry, infrastructure operations and ownership can be public or private. Of course, depending on the country, it is clear that this type of ownership also plays a crucial role in transport management.
