Forts: Royal Fables of Rajasthan

Dhiraj Srivastava, Meenakshi Yadav

Abstract

The "Forts of India" convey the tale of our country's great past and are responsible for making it popular among tourists as they stand as evidence of a beautiful past and excellent craftsmanship. Some of the finest specimens of Indian art, architecture, and culture may be seen in Rajasthan, also referred to as the "Land of Kings." The Hill Forts of Rajasthan are a collection of six enormous and stunning forts that may be found in the cities of Chittorgarh, Kumbhalgarh, Sawai Madhopur, Jhalawar, Jaipur, and Jaisalmer. In 2013, UNESCO designated these forts as a World Heritage Site. One can attest to the stupendous magnificence and beauty of the forts and palaces famed for their imposing design and impenetrable walls. Whether it is the enormous Chittorgarh Fort or the graceful lake Palace of Udaipur, the renowned Amber Fort in Jaipur, the regal Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, the Jaisalmer fort, also known as the Golden Fort, famous for its intricate carvings and unique blend of Hindu and Islamic styles, or the impressive Ranthambore Fort, each building offers a special window into Rajasthan's rich history of its nobility and social standing.
