AN ARCHITECTURAL STUDY OF SOCIAL ISOLATION IN HIGH RISE BUILDINGS

RUTUJA RAJESH DHOTE, Debashis Sanyal

Abstract

It has been experienced that living in High-rises often leads to problems such as social isolation and mental well-being. Due to the lack of several shared spaces in high-rise buildings which are considered to be socially interactive, there may be an increased level of social isolation among the residents. So this paper aims to study the socially interactive spaces which are known for a long time and still showing functional efficiency in regards to the same. The inference from the horizontal settlement is implemented efficiently in vertical high-rise buildings as a part of the design solution. The solution drawn from this study will be from an architectural perspective considering the key features similar for such a socially interactive space
