Sustainable Growth of Government Schools in Dehradun
Abstract
Schools are the building blocks of our society, and in order to take a step towards a progressive future, it is necessary for our children to be educated. However, it is observed that a big portion of Indian minors does not attend school, mainly girls. The majority of schools in India are government-run, and they have a reach to both—rural and urban settings. But due to the availability of limited resources, they are unable to provide or maintain a healthy learning environment for the students that may include good and abundant teaching staff, infrastructure, amenities, etc. It is not possible for all the parents to afford private schooling for their children, especially in rural areas; and the ones who can, prefer private schooling over government schooling to ensure safety and better education standards. Therefore, there is an urgent need for improvement in different aspects of government schools. Thus, the present study was undertaken to examine the current condition of government schools while extracting their major problems and thus, giving an intervention based on alternative architecture techniques that are sustainable and cost-effective.
