Framework for rehabilitation of buildings to improve health, hygiene, and comfort of occupants

Vidushi Kasana, V. K. Paul, Sushil Kumar Solanki

Abstract

The following study outlines a framework that can be applied to the initial stages of the rehabilitation decision making to shortlist and rank alternatives based on their impact on health, hygiene and comfort of occupants. The framework is outlined by applying to three case modules, the initial assessment is based on occupant survey and site data to identify problem areas and form a basis for extent of intervention required. Best Worst Method is applied to work out the weightages of parameters and MCDM is used to finally rank the alternatives based on rehabilitation priorities that could range from cost and time constraints, energy use, etc. The study is concluded by a representative flowchart of the framework.
