Redevelopment/Renewal Dimensions for an Effective Development in Traditional Urban Core Areas: A Comparative Study of Different Urban Core Development India and Global

Abstract


In the recent years Urban development and redevelopment has been contemporary trend with the rapid urbanization of cities the sprawl increases and spills out to the fringes and peri urban area, as the migration pull if tremendously encouraged by the new industries, SEZs and other economic thrives, this results in urban pressure and core areas are under focused, defining the core areas Indian cities holds a unique characteristics to its urban centres developed in historic periods and modern times, but due to the under noticed scenario most parts of the urban cores turns brightened, un liveable conditions, congestion, pressure on slums thus it gave a platform or professionals to build a strong city cores through different government initiatives by ULBs, Smart city mission of India, Hriday for various heritage centres, and JNNURM with Basic services for the Urban poor scheme and etc., like all governments state and central has initiated to build a strong redevelopment strategies which address to bring a strong focus on social, economic, environmental, and political city centres through different agencies, this paper discusses about the evolution, importance of urban centres, the different perspectives of urban renewal, the development phenomenal from different CDPs, how the complex structures in development addressed by them, with a comparative study from Indian and global examples.
