Application of Land Pooling and Land Readjustment Technique in Cities – Case Study of Kovilancheri

U.Shanmuga Sundari, Sheeba Chander

Abstract

This study explores the application of land pooling and land readjustment techniques in urban areas, using the case study of Kovilancheri, a rapidly urbanising town in Tamil Nadu, India. The study further evaluates the benefits of these techniques in addressing land fragmentation and inadequate infrastructure. It also examines the legal and institutional framework for implementation and discusses stakeholder roles. It later concludes with policy recommendations for effective implementation in urban planning and development, aiming to prepare a neighbourhood plan using land pooling and readjustment techniques to provide public amenities and social infrastructure.
