Prabhat Mishra, Indrani Chakraborty, Subhrajit Banerjee

Abstract

This paper aims at the study of the grave problem of rural-urban migration its reasons and the ways to eradicate this problem with the help of modern technological advancements in the field of GIS, PPGIS and GPS. The study has been based on the ideas that arose in my mind during the course of my studies in the field of regional and urban planning I have also taken examples from the successful implementation of very simple cloud crowdsourcing applications in the third world countries of Africa. This paper also aims at the provision of infrastructure and public utilities in the rural areas of India that lacks basic public amenities for the physical and mental wellbeing of the inhabitants and also tries to get an insight into the provision of financial benefits to the rural inhabitants that sometimes migrate to the urban areas just for search of better options of monetary benefit. Indian citizens since a number of centuries have been migrating to various parts of the worlds to promote trade, political and religious links. The tradition of out migration in India can be traced back to 268–231 BC when emperor Ashok sent messengers to the various parts of the world to spread the word of peace and harmony given by Lord Buddha.
