Techno-Managerial challenges in Construction and demolition waste management
Abstract
In the present scenario construction and demolition waste is still seen as waste for landfills and it is not seen as a source of building materials. The construction industry generates a large amount of waste that is not processed. Because of increasing concerns about sustainability, natural resource depletion, and carbon emissions Construction and Demolition Waste can be key factors in overcoming these issues. The study aims to identify techno-managerial challenges in C & amp;D waste management and also to suggest various recommendations, and guidelines for overcoming those challenges. To identify the techno managerial challenges in C&D waste management that are prevailing in Delhi. The study involved identification of Different stakeholders and a questionnaire survey to understand their perspectives about the techno managerial challenges in C&D waste management. The collected data was recorded, analyzed
and suitable recommendations were proposed. From the study, it was found that there exist many challenges at different stages of waste management in Delhi such as Lack of human resources with technical expertise for waste collection and segregation, Composition of Waste and Poor- Quality Raw Materials from C & D waste, etc. that need to be worked out. The identified challenges can not only help the decision makers to comprehend these issues but also provide a foundation for investigating an appropriate strategy for enhancing the current construction waste management method.
