Abstract

Energy efficiency in building requires specific type of building materials in the design and construction, improving building insulation and sealing performance and enhancing efficiency of heating systems to reduce energy consumption. The main aim of the project is to reduce the energy consumption, carbon emission, life cycle cost, annual operation cost of the building and residential envelope transmittance value. In this project, Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, IES VE & ECO-NIWAS were used. The model was drafted in AutoCAD, traced to form a 3D model on Revit and the daylight analysis was performed on IES VE. The calculation of carbon emission, residential envelope transmittance value, life cycle cost and annual operation cost was done using ECO-NIWAS. Total 3 projects have been performed on ECO-NIWAS by studying the material properties. All the factors which were intended on reducing were reduced gradually in each project. The final project i.e. (PROJECT 3) has the minimum values of RETV, EPI, carbon emission, annual operation cost and life cycle cost compared to the prior 2 projects.
