Recreational Spaces and Well-being: A Case of Gated Communities in Thiruvananthapuram, India

Abstract


This research article investigates the present situation of recreational spaces in gated communities and its neighborhood in the South Indian city, Thiruvananthapuram. As per various cases studies examined throughout the world, in this modern fast-paced society, quality recreational spaces can only act as a tool to break social fragmentation to create social cohesion and well-being among the communities. The research method includes simple random sampling with questionnaire survey conducted in English having open- and closed-ended questions. This research concludes by emphasizing on reframing the urban planning policies of Thiruvananthapuram and building by-laws related to the allocation of recreational spaces for the development of socially cohesion and well-being among the community.
