Sustainable Architectural Design with Urban Waste

Abstract

Solid waste is an important universal topic for everyone in the world. Which needs to be managed eco-friendly, but 90% of waste openly dumped or burned in underdeveloped countries. So reuse of urban waste in building construction can solve many environmental issues and cost-effectiveness concerning building construction. This paper focuses on what categories of waste generated are useful as reusable material in construction. Here the waste is picked by considering some of their material properties like time of degradation and whether it is hazardous or non-hazardous for use. Plastic bottle technology and plastic-sand brick technique case studies are taken to study different construction techniques. Finally, the study finds that the use of plastic waste as a building material has enormous potential for building construction as well as promotes environmental sustainability by promoting reusability of waste.
