Plastic Waste as a New Source of Construction Material
Abstract
Challenges are always a part of life, as all challenges arise the endeavour to find solutions, such challenges are faced by all developing and developed nations as large population are solving the effective disposal of plastic waste. As waste is generated in lots of abundance where the land fill and incineration sites are totally exhausted for managing it, so to use this plastic waste as a solution two such examples are put forwarded to see the innovative methods. As these innovative methods have their own merits and demerits. The method is known to have environmental and safety concerns as today the majority of roads are constructed using bitumen, tar or cement where the roads are filled with plastic waste for its compaction. This provides a solution to the problem of disposal of plastic waste at the same time increases the strength and durability of the road, addresses the environmental, social, economic and most importantly safety issue. They are formed or expanded to yield materials of low density. Dissolved in solvents or dispersed as emulsions, they are used in paints, varnishes and adhesives. At present, plastics find use in buildings mainly in thin coverings, forms, pipes, panels, sheets pipes etc.
