Corrosion and Bio- Degradation of Polymers

Abstract


Waste disposal has always required water soluble waste degradation possibilities. Polymer in waste has not degraded easily to search easy biodegradable polymers by micro-organisms like bacteria, fungi, etc. Search of appropriate biopolymer and microbes for synthetic polymer as per international standards have been main criteria to reduce environmental pollution. Uses of huge tonnage of synthetic polymers have imposed extra pollution problems in environment, wildlife and forests. Minimization of pollution has described to develop proper microorganisms which can decay plastics within short period instead of decades. Polymer is a good product with extra qualities, but consumption rate and its disposal has incorporated studies about easy degenerated bio-products or microbial degeneration of synthetic products. Reverse consequences in industries have caused structural failures by biodegradation of polymeric materials those have used for structures or protection from weather. These microbes have included heterotrophic microorganisms including bacteria and fungi.
