Bloom Taxonomy for Assessing the Learning Outcome in First Year Architectural Design Studio

Abstract


Architectural Education is a five year course in India and follows the Council of Architecture
guidelines for running the course in different colleges and universities. It is a multifaceted field which
not only involves the building design but also integrates, human values, environmental factors,
sustainability, philosophy, technology and various other related fields. Design studio forms the very
basis of any Architectural education and incorporate these related fields to produce creative design
solutions that further satisfy the needs of the people. The first year architectural design studio
emphasizes on the basic design elements and principles to orient the students towards the field of
architecture. This paper is thus an attempt to analyze the learning outcomes of first year students
through various design exercises in architectural design studio using Blooms Taxonomy.
