An Architectural Monument: Vittala Temple, Hampi

Abstract


Vittala Temple is one of the Hampi's timeless monuments. The temple is built in the spread out over a large area in an irregular way, campus with compound wall and gateway towers. Halls, pavilions, and temples can be found there. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The Vijaya Vittala Temple is dedicated to Sir Vishnu's characteristic Vittala. With gorgeous architecture and handicrafts behind, the temple is the main attraction of Hampi. In front of the temple is a stone tank, one of India's three most popular tanks. The tank is a shrine dedicated to the eagle god Garuda. The main hall provides access to Maha mandapa, the pillar of music, the most interesting and famous part of the temple.
