Abstract

It has been experienced that building design is constantly evolving among the ongoing era, while the world slowly adapting to life in a pandemic. Architecture is being called upon to reshape our spaces. What might the future of design hold in the post-COVID era? Can building science help to reduce the risk of COVID 19 finding the balance between humans and nature? Discussing examples from the past how design has evolved in the past pandemic in the 19th Century. Air and water are the two most common factors in the past which affected epidemics, so the environmental approach might play a vital role, weaving into housing concepts of nature and well-being during the pandemic of COVID-19. "The question is, are we ready to rethink our old assumptions about whether balconies and natural ventilation? How to do them well now we have this learned experience from being forced to stay home". "A certain amount of claustrophobia has set in.” The paradigm shift would probably be people concentrating more on human-centered design approach mechanical ventilation might take a back step. The utilization of natural ventilation has a long history. Architecture has been trying to respond to weather conditions. However, the pandemic has allowed us to tune into the Utilization of green building concept systems and can now emerge as a very useful tool for livelihood post-pandemic of COVID-19 and give more importance to natural ventilation. This paper deals with how residential building design evolved in the pandemic natural ventilation, balconies, openings, and green spaces in the building might give an effect on psychological behavior.
