An Overview: Current Scenario of the Fire Protection in India

Abstract


Fire protection is the practice of avoiding the unwanted effects of destructive fires. The science of fire protection has three major goals: continuity of operations, property protection and life safety. Further, the prime categories of fire protection are prevention, detection and fighting. The fire when occurred is checked by the choice of material and then the fire spreads which is of two levels, which is to restrict or mitigate the damage. To prevent the fire, the cause should be known. This paper shall primarily focus on fire occurrence, detection and clearance. It shall also detail out as to how does sprinkler system work for a server room, how to fight basement fire, and how to fight fire for specific cases: forest, airport, substations, steel buildings and how to conduct a fire drill.
