Parking Infrastructure at Lashkar CBD: Understanding Demand and Supply Dynamics in Gwalior

Somitra Sharma, Richa Mishra

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive demand and supply analysis of Lashkar-Maharaj Bada. In Gwalior, a rapid increase in car and two-wheeler ownership creates a heavy burden on parking infrastructure and transport management. This research paper focuses on the existing parking infrastructure, parking characteristics, and demand forecasting of the study area. A mixed-methods approach has been carried out, including qualitative data collection through surveys and interviews and quantitative data collection through In-out, fixed-sampling survey methods.

This paper aims to examine the parking problem in a selected area and the various factors contributing to the mismatch between demand and supply of parking space in an urban area. The government parking policy and its implementation are reviewed, while the solution to the parking problem is also discussed in detail in this paper. The results further highlight key findings and recommendations.

This paper will contribute in the long term to understanding and implementing the various strategies and policies regarding Urban area parking management plans and its benefit for local areas.
