Advantages of RCC Prefabricated Systems for Affordable LIG Housing in India

Abstract

This paper aims to describe the advantages of RCC prefabricated building systems suitable for affordable Indian low income group housing. It is envisaged that the shortage of LIG housing in India can be effectively mitigated by adapting to prefabricated systems. While defining affordable mass housing, this research enumerates the benefits of prefabrication over conventional site construction techniques. Various recent prefab systems are shortlisted and their characteristics and advantages are also studied in this research. The suitability and availability of RCC prefab systems in Indian context are also highlighted.
