Isolation of Bacterial Flora from Various Water Source

Abstract

Water is habitat for mammals, amphibians, phytoplankton’s, zooplanktons, algae and microorganisms. The microbial consortium in water is high. The microorganisms of natural waters are extremely diverse. The numbers and types of bacteria present will depend on the amounts of organic matter present, the presence of toxic substances, waters’ saline content and environmental factors such as pH, temperature and aeration. This study provides information about the bacterial flora from various water sources. From the study, it was found that major organisms isolated were gram negative organisms.
