Impact of Gaming along Architecture

Abstract


Architecture and Gaming are two very distinct fields. But they have been interacting with each other for a long time now. Sadly, their potential together is yet to be achieved in its pristine form. Most architects are dismissive of video games, but on the contrary, Video games have been harnessing the power of Architecture quite well. But now is the time when things must take a turn. Not just the architects but the commonality as well, should be made aware and given exposure to the capabilities and power of gaming tools that can complement architecture and the society itself. In this case concept of gaming has a very different perception that misled it towards violence and leisure only. The study of impact of gaming on various aspects of lifestyle, society and culture is an important dimension in order to understand its deep roots and power it possesses. Types of games that people play have different means of affecting mindset and may develop some sort of insight. The aim here is to promote those tools towards the development of students in productive fields. Such as planning skills, decision making, quick perception and nurturing an outlook for society. Gaming has a deep impact on various levels. Utilising it in better ways would be in the best interests of mankind. Views and opinions of various architects, institutions, peers and common people have been taken and analysed. The data has been worked on ordinal scale, categorizing the interaction of folks with different genres falling in gaming. The culmination of this research would be collaboration between gaming and architecture industry, paving way for opportunities.
