Livability in the Micro-urban Blocks: A Case of an Urban Block in Oppanakara Street, Coimbatore

Abstract

India is among the most popular developing countries in the world. Urban Transformation in India have reflected on the Urban Expansion in the previous decades and called for the making of vital and lively urban places. The research has been taken forward by Urban Planner to test the relationship between Urban Design, Urban Morphology and Urban Vitality in Indian Cities. Coimbatore City, in State Tamil Nadu has faced Urban Agglomeration from Rural Areas to city side. The Expansion of the urban fabric grows and still growing for past 2 decades. As the population grows, the urban block is completely occupied and livability is affected. This Article is about the urban block inside the city centre. More specifically, this article focuses on the factors like, density, typology, accessibility, individual blocks, about their positive and negative effects on the urban vitality.
