Economic and Financial Requirements of Mining of Industrial Minerals in Nigeria

Aliyu Ibrahim Kankara, Muttaka Rabe Darma, Farouk Hamza

Abstract

A preliminary economic survey is essential for ascertaining the viability of targeted mineral deposits in the developing nations. This present study surveyed the mining of kaolin mineral deposits mined at Kankara in Katsina State, Nigeria. The methodology adopted for the research was primary data gathered during the mining operation, which spanned between 2014 to 2016 by a notable mining company based at Jos, the Opera mines which also involved some a survey by the said researchers in the area. It is recommended that governments and other stake holders at all levels must take active parts in small-scale mining of industrial minerals, issuance of land acquisition of basic requirements.
