The Role and the Importance of Landscape Design to the Realization of Sustainable Development Goals

Filiz ÇELİK

Abstract

Sustainable development goals are becoming increasingly important all over the world. Local authorities and communities are responsible for the realization of the sustainable development goals at local scales, recognizing in particular interdependent relationships between urban, peri-urban, and rural areas. Sustainable development goals are the goals that can be realized with long-term plans. Plans for long-term should support with design for getting result in short-term. Quality and sustainable environments are created through close collaboration of the various disciplines involved in planning and design. Designers also have an obligation to make sure their design is truly sustainable. In this study, it has been explained importance of integrated planning and design and, the role of landscape design to the realization of sustainable development goals.
