Remedial Garden: Healthy Environment with Medical Plants in Landscape

Abstract


The Persian garden is a system including natural elements which can prepare the physical needs beside the psychological and remedial parameters. On the other hand, after recognizing disadvantages of chemical drugs and lacking the information about the advantages of medical plants it is clear that people need to know about these plants and have some places for serving them these plants. Regarding the quality of Persian gardens, using the healing characters of these gardens can be useful in the landscape design. The main hypothesis of the research refers to “There are some possibility to develop remedial gardens through combination of physical aspects and psychological aspects of Gardens.” Literature review of the paper show that there are some outstanding examples of such gardens in developing countries such as Iran, Japan, China, etc. In order to examine hypothesis of the paper, combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches adopted. So, the research is to explain remedial qualities of Persian garden means proceed to its connection with landscape design. The fundamental research questions are: “what is the remedial characters of the Persian garden?” and “how they can be combined with the advantages of the medical plants for the healing landscape design? To answer these questions, descriptive – analytical research method has been adopted as inference mechanism of the research on the basis of logical argumentation research strategy. Research results show that medical plants with the help of the some special qualities of Persian garden can provide a lucrative psychological space.
