How an Efficient and Optimal Use of Space Can Help in the Reduction of Costs

Ankur Prabhakar

Abstract

An inflation of construction cost has been observed in the past consecutive years. Up to 15% increase occurs per annum because of the increasing cost of labour and building materials such as cement, bricks, steel, timber etc. Revolutionizing the traditional concepts of construction various new techniques need to be introduced which provide better structural strength while keeping the dead weighs much lower in comparison to a traditional building using various forms of concrete in different types of formworks. Keeping in view the affordability of housing for majority of people, a major reform is required which constitutes cost effective solutions for construction by applying modern construction materials and techniques efficiently or by up-gradation of conventional technologies using local resources. By planning each and every component of a house and rationalizing the design procedure, the wastage of materials due to demolition of the unplanned component of the house can be avoided.
