Bhatala: An Appreciable Architectural Heritage of Vidarbha Region

Abstract


Bhatala village is blessed with valuable heritage assets which is located in Chandrapur district of Vidarbha region. This Village embraces Bhonda Mahadev Temple, Bhavani Mata Temple, Miniature caves and few sculptures. Few of them are protected by ASI. Though this place having a rich heritage potential, still it’s unexplored. As an architect, planner; there is a need to document, analyze the heritage structure, so that people can aware about the values associated with the place and the temples. Research is needed to identify the exact date of its construction, architectural style adopted, its uniqueness, historical significance. Thus people can aware and appreciate such rich heritage. Also this will help to boost the tourism potential of this place. The paper makes an effort to understand and to enhance the awareness of temple architecture of Bhatala of Vidarbha region.
